Ever been somewhere and thought “Wow, I love that paint colour, I wonder what it is?” or maybe you’ve got a piece of clothing or a favourite plate that would be the perfect colour for your lounge room wall – but how to find out what colour it is!
Three designers from Melbourne have developed the SwatchMate Cube to do just that for you – simply scan the colour using the Cube and it will send the colour details to your smartphone via bluetooth. Sounds too good to be true right?
According to the team of designers, the SwatchMate Cube’s colour match system is better at identifying colours than traditional methods (including taking a photo on your phone or camera, or even the fancy colour matching machines you’ll find at paint stores).
After winning a swag of awards from the University of Melbourne and the Sydney, Melbourne AND Brisbane Design Awards, the SwatchMate team are looking for funding on Kickstarter to get it commercially produced – and they’re almost at their target so if you want to get your hands on one of the first of these to be released, you’d better hurry!
